There might be as many as 10 billion Internet-of-Things devices in the world. Lights, thermostats and other traditionally manual devices are migrating to internet protocol (IP) based communications and controls.
In a “smart home,” this means we can control these items with apps on our smartphones. In cities, this means new structures have an edge in operational and energy costs. This evolution has happened quickly.
